他的身型龐大，四腳著地站立也有四尺多高，若站立起來高達一米八，體重140磅，他就是被喻為狗界姚明的大丹犬鬼佬。可惜身型大如小型馬匹、性格嬌嗲過芝娃娃的「鬼佬」，最近慘被人棄養，即使兩度有心人打算考慮領養，最終也因其體型過份龐大而打退堂鼓。協助鬼佬尋找領養的香港藏獒及高加索協會Bowie盼望，性格溫馴的鬼佬可以找到一個合適、又愛他的主人，給他有一個家。
Bowie表示，大丹犬鬼佬身世可憐，其主人從繁殖商購買了鬼佬後，一直將他棄於天台飼養，現時14個月大的鬼佬，在義工接走前，從未外出去過街，令他現時仍需學行及狗禮儀。「雖然他體型大如小馬，但性格純過芝娃娃，亦非常愛人和狗，當他在街上見到小狗時，亦非常熱情;見到人時，亦任摸唔嬲，有街上小朋友搣他面豬，也完全無嬲，非常乖功及親人。」
大丹犬，又稱為德國獒，被人們視為世界犬中的阿波羅，產於德國，歷史可追溯至愛爾蘭獵狼犬和古代英國獒。大丹犬聰明、勇敢，忠於主人，易於訓練。無奈因鬼佬非常高大，站立起來達兩米高，亦因身型龐大，食糧亦大，估計每日需要食最少八杯糧，一個月的狗糧費用高達數千元，飼養他亦需一定經濟能力。加上，大狗應有一定的活動，若要飼養鬼佬，也需要環境較大的地方可飼養。Bowie坦言，有外籍人士曾考慮領養或暫託鬼佬，惟他們經心思熟慮後最終也打退堂鼓。她亦坦言，許多人類極度自私，認為拖大狗外出感到威風，從不同地方購買大型狗隻回港，飼養後才發現地方不夠、環境不適合而棄養，而且許多主人當義工是萬能，只將狗狗棄到義工手中便置之不理，亦不會考慮任何經濟上負回責任。好像鬼化的身型，因為太過龐大，他需要召喚貨車、整個後座只坐他一狗，才可以載他。
Bowie說，現時鬼佬由一位義工暫託，但該義工本身亦收留了三十多隻小狗，地方已不太足夠，加上鬼佬需要重新教導他去街街不扯繩等，需要較多時間及心力去照顧，故義工也盼望盡快替鬼佬找到合適、願意愛他的人，讓他感受到主人愛錫。

Gwei Lo is 4 foot long Great Dane when all his 4 paws are touching the ground, he can reach 1.8m in height if he decides to have a quick stand on his back paws. Despite the enormous size, he is also a gentle giant at heart, as clingy as a tiny Chihuahua. Gwei Lo was abandoned recently, Bowie Leung, a member of Caucasian Ovcharka & Tibetan Mastiff Club Hong Kong hopes to find a loving home for him. Although there is no lack of initial interest, a permanent home sweet home is still eluding Gwei Lo due to his size.
The now 14 months old Gwei Lo has a unremarkable sad story like many other abandoned pets, his previous owner bought him from a breeder, he was raised on roof, never been taken out for a walk prior to his rescue.“ Even Gwei Lo is as big as a pony, he has the most gentle temperament ever. He gets along with both human and dogs. He loves to show his affection to whomever he meets on the street, be it human or his 4-legged peers. He has no problem with it at all even if a random kid comes up to give a squeeze to his face. He is just an easygoing good boy.” Bowie stated.
Great Dane, also known as German Mastiff, is regarded as the “Mighty Apollo”. The breed is originated from Germany, descended from cross breeds between English Mastiff and Irish Wolfhounds. Great Dane is smart, brave, loyal and easy to train.
Despite the perfect temperament for a companion pet, having a Great Dane is no easy task. Great Dane often claims the title of the tallest living dog, which means a typical Great Dane requires approximately 8 cups of kibbles daily, adding up to a potential monthly cost of several thousands Hong Kong Dollars. Owner also needs to provide sufficient space for a Great Dane like Gwei Lo to thrive given its size. Bowie had to hire a van to transport him, Gwei Lo would take up the whole back seat just by himself.
Bowie admitted a few potential adopters have given up adopting Gwei Lo after serious consideration. He knew it is not uncommon for people to buy a Great Dane from oversea just to show off having a dog giant, those irresponsible owners would only realise their incompetence after the purchase. They would then willingly give up their so-called furry friends to volunteers without remorse.
At the moment Gwei Lo is being fostered by an individual volunteer who already has more than 30 dogs under his care. He doesn’t have enough space for a giant like Gwei Lo, nor time to give Gwei Lo the training and love he deserves.
